Valve Clearance Check

  1. Position No. 1 piston at TDC of compression stroke. Slowly apply pressure until lash adjuster is completely collapsed on No. 1 intake.
  2. Holding lash adjuster in collapsed position, measure clearance between rocker arm and tip of valve stem. If clearance is not within specification, repair or replace components as necessary. See B3000 COLLAPSED LASH ADJUSTER SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  3. Repeat procedure for intake valves No. 2 and 4, and exhaust valves No. 1, 3 and 6. Rotate crankshaft 360 degrees (one revolution). Repeat procedure for intake valves No. 3, 5 and 6, and exhaust valves No. 2, 4 and 5.
