MX-6 & 626 2.0L A/T

  1. Connect Super Star II Tester (49-UN01-056) to data link connector. Enter Key On Engine Running (KOER) self-diagnosis test. After DTC slow code output is completed, unlatch and within 4 seconds, latch HOLD TEST button. A single-pulse tone indicates entry mode has been successfully entered. Observe Self-Test Output (STO) of tester.
  2. If a constant tone or STO LO is displayed, base idle speed is within range and adjustment is not necessary. Exit STO.
  3. If a beeping tone or STO LO display flashes at 8 Hz, TP sensor is out of range and adjustment is required. Perform TP sensor adjustment and repeat test. Refer to appropriate THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR RESISTANCE  or THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR VOLTAGE  .
  4. If a beeping tone or STO LO display flashes at 4 Hz, base idle speed is too high.
  5. If a beeping tone or STO LO display flashes at one Hz, base idle speed is too low.
  6. If idle speed is not within specification, remove shorting bar from the double-wire SPOUT connector located in front corner of engine compartment near main fuse block. Rotate air adjusting screw on throttle body. See IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS  table. Reinstall shorting bar on double-wire SPOUT connector. Disconnect super star II tester from data link connector.
IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS

(1) Place automatic transmission in Park.
(2) Connect jumper wire between terminals TEN and GRD of data link connector.
(3) Use Super Star II Tester (49-UN01-056) connected to data link connector to verify idle speed.
