Bronco (Manual Locking Hub)

- Raise and support front of vehicle. Remove front wheels. Remove calipers, and wire aside. Remove locking hubs. See MANUAL LOCKING HUBS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove snap ring and 3 washers (if equipped).
- Using a Spanner Lock Nut Wrench (D85T-1197-A), remove outer lock nut and lock washer. See Fig 1. Tighten inner lock nut to 50 ft. lbs. (68 N.m) while turning hub and rotor back and forth to seat bearing. Back off inner lock nut approximately 1/4 turn (90 degrees).
- Tighten inner lock nut to 50 ft. lbs. (68 N.m). Install lock washer with key positioned in wheel spindle groove, aligning inner lock nut pin into closest lock washer hole. Install outer lock nut and tighten to 160-205 ft. lbs. (217-278 N.m). Final end play of hub on spindle should be 0-.004" (0-.11 mm). Torque required to turn hub and rotor assembly should not exceed 20 INCH lbs. (2.3 N.m). Install locking hub and wheels.
NOTE:
Lock washer hole pattern is equipped with an offset keyway. Offset keyway provides half position settings by turning washer over to obtain closest setting.
