Bronco (Automatic Locking Hub)

  1. Raise and support front of vehicle. Remove wheels. Remove locking hub assembly. See AUTOMATIC LOCKING HUBS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove snap ring and 3 washers, noting order of washers for installation.
  2. Remove cam assembly and wheel bearing nut retaining key. Loosen wheel bearing retaining nut. Snug wheel bearing retaining nut while rotating hub back and forth. Back off wheel bearing retaining nut and retighten to 16 INCH lbs. (1.8 N.m).
  3. Install wheel bearing retaining key by inserting short leg into slot in nut. Ensure curved portion of retaining key is seated into wheel bearing retaining nut bore. Install cam assembly and 3 washers. Install snap ring. Final end play of hub should be .000-.004" (.00-.11 mm). Torque required to turn hub and rotor assembly should not exceed 20 INCH lbs. (2.3 N.m). Install locking hub and wheels.
