Passenger-Side Air Bag Deactivate Switch (Ranger Only): Notes

Before proceeding, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Disable SRS. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
Remove rubber cup holder inserts from console to access and remove two locking screws and remove console panel. Remove instrument panel ash receptacle.
CAUTION: When removing ash receptacle, be careful not to disconnect PAD switch electrical connector until ash receptacle bracket has been placed on floor.
Remove 4 ash receptacle bracket bolts, place receptacle on floor, and disconnect 2 PAD switch electrical connectors. Remove 2 PAD switch screws, lift PAD up from bottom and remove from ash receptacle bracket. See Fig 1.
