Fuel System: Turbocharger: Removal

- Disconnect ground cables from both batteries. Remove 2 intake tube-to-turbocharger bolts, turbocharger clamps, crankcase breather, air cleaner assembly, air intake tube and hoses. See Fig 1. Remove turbocharger exhaust outlet clamp. Raise vehicle. Remove engine charge exhaust pipe bolt from transmission (if equipped).
- Remove catalytic converter-to-engine charge exhaust pipe (if equipped). Loosen turbocharger exhaust inlet pipe-to-left and right exhaust manifold bolts. Remove right turbocharger exhaust inlet pipe-to-turbocharger exhaust inlet adapter.
- Lower vehicle. Remove right engine lift hook. If equipped with A/T, remove right and left turbocharger exhaust inlet pipes-to-turbocharger exhaust inlet adapter. Loosen compressor manifold hose clamps and remove compressor manifold from turbocharger.
- On all models, remove turbocharger-to-cylinder block bolts. Remove turbocharger assembly and disconnect electrical connectors. If turbocharger will not be disassembled, install Turbo Protective Cap Set (T94T-9395-AH). Remove and discard oil gallery "O" rings.
