Turbocharger Overhaul: Reassembly

- Install turbine housing on center housing so reference marks are aligned. Install and tighten turbine housing-to-center housing bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Ensure compressor housing-to-center housing sealing surfaces are clean. Apply bead of high-temperature RTV sealant on compressor housing sealing surface on the center housing.
- Install compressor housing on center housing so reference marks are aligned. Install and tighten compressor housing-to-center housing bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install exhaust backpressure control valve on turbine housing. Apply anti-seize compound on threads of exhaust backpressure control valve-to-compressor housing bolts. Install and tighten exhaust backpressure control valve-to-compressor housing bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install NEW "O" rings on turbocharger pedestal assembly. Coat "O" rings with engine oil. Install turbocharger pedestal assembly on center housing.
- Apply anti-seize compound on threads of turbocharger pedestal assembly-to-turbocharger center housing bolts. Install and tighten turbocharger pedestal assembly-to-turbocharger center housing bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Reinstall control rod on valve lever. Control rod tension must be adjusted. Attach spring scale on control rod. See Fig 1. Adjust control rod length to obtain a reading of 10 lbs. (4.5 kg) on spring scale. Remove spring scale.
