Oil Aeration/Poor Idle

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 16 other vehicles, including the 1996 Ford RV Cutaway, 1996 Ford Pickup, 1996 Ford F-Super Duty, 1996 Ford Econoline, and 1996 Ford Cutaway. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn A/C off. Using scan tester, access ICP PID from PID/DATA monitor menu. See ADDITIONAL SYSTEM FUNCTIONS in the TESTS W/CODES - 7.3L DIESEL article.
  2. Start engine and hold at wide open throttle for one minutes. ICP PID should be 1100-1750 psi (7585-12066 kPa). If ICP PID reading increases to more than 1750 psi (12066 kPa) after one minutes, anti-foam additives may have become depleted from oil. Change oil and retest.
