Poor Fuel Economy

Ensure throttle plate and linkage operate properly.
Check air intake system.

Check ignition system. See BASIC TESTING - 3.0L article.
Check for vacuum leaks.
Check for restricted exhaust system.
Check EGR system. See SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article.
Check for slipping clutch.
Check for dragging brakes.
Check odometer calibration.
Vehicle load, driving habits, road and weather conditions can also effect fuel economy.
