Check Restriction At Fuel Supply Pump

Connect fuel return line removed in FUEL FILTER OUTLET PRESSURE test. Install Adapter (5632) and Pressure Test Kit (014-00761) to fuel supply pump inlet. See Figure . With rear wheels off the ground and transmission in Neutral or Park, run engine at 3300 RPM. Record vacuum reading. On dual tank vehicles, check both tanks. Vacuum reading should be less than 6 in. Hg. If vacuum reading is less than 6 in. Hg, go to next test. If vacuum is greater than 6 in. Hg, repair or replace restricted chassis fuel line(s) and repeat the FUEL FILTER OUTLET PRESSURE test.
