Section 164 (Engine Controls - System/Component Tests - EEC-IV (4.9L)): Introduction

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Ford Pickup, 1995 Ford Econoline, 1995 Ford Club Wagon, and 1995 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Before testing separate components or systems, perform procedures in BASIC TESTING - 4.9L article. Since many computer-controlled and monitored components set a trouble code if they malfunction, perform procedures in TESTS W/CODES - EEC-IV (4.9L) article.

NOTE: Testing individual components does not isolate short or open circuits. Perform all voltage tests with a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. Use ohmmeter to isolate shorted or open wiring harness.
NOTE: For WIRING DIAGRAMS not shown in testing procedures, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at the end of this article.
