Removal (Pickup)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 10 other vehicles, including the 1995 Ford RV Cutaway, 1995 Ford Pickup, 1995 Ford F-Super Duty, 1995 Ford Econoline, and 1995 Ford Cutaway. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable from both batteries. If equipped with A/T, remove turbocharger. See TURBOCHARGER . Scribe hood hinge location and remove hood. Drain cooling system. Discharge A/C system (if equipped), using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Remove upper radiator hose and coolant recovery reservoir hose.
    CAUTION: Fan and fan clutch assembly use right-hand threads.
  2. Disconnect fan shroud and place shroud over fan. Using Fan Clutch Pulley Holder (T94T-6312-AH) and Fan Clutch Nut Wrench (T83T-6312-B), remove fan and clutch assembly. Remove fan shroud. Remove lower radiator hose. Remove radiator retaining bolts. Remove heater hose and A/T cooler lines from radiator (if equipped). Remove radiator.
  3. Rotate drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove drive belt. Disconnect generator electrical connectors. Remove generator retaining bolt and position heater hose aside. Remove generator bracket and generator as an assembly.
  4. If equipped with A/C, disconnect A/C compressor electrical connectors. Remove A/C lines from A/C compressor. Remove A/C compressor bracket and A/C compressor as an assembly. Disconnect vacuum hose from vacuum pump. Disconnect power steering hoses from power steering pump. Disconnect A/C lines from condenser and position A/C lines aside.
  5. Disconnect heater hoses from water pump and right cylinder head. Remove both battery ground cables from engine. Disconnect MAP sensor vacuum hose from intake manifold. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from left side of engine compartment and secure to engine. Remove jack handle.
  6. Disconnect wiring from starter and secure to engine. Raise vehicle. Loosen fuel pump banjo bolt to release fuel pressure. Using Spring Lock Coupling Remover (T81P-19623-G1 for 3/8" line or T81P-19623-G2 for 1/2" line), disconnect and plug fuel supply and return lines.
  7. Disconnect engine block heater (if equipped). Drain crankcase and remove oil filter. Remove starter. Remove engine mounts-to-engine nuts. Remove headlight wiring harness fasteners and position harness forward.
  8. On M/T models, remove engine charge exhaust pipe-to-turbocharger clamp. Remove transmission. See appropriate article in TRANSMISSION SERVICING.
  9. On A/T models, remove left and right turbocharger exhaust inlet pipe bolts. Remove transmission housing cover. Remove flexplate-to-torque converter bolts. Remove lower engine-to-transmission bolts. Remove left and right turbocharger exhaust inlet pipes. Disconnect engine ground strap from rear of engine. Support transmission with floor jack and remove 2 upper engine-to-transmission bolts.
  10. On all models, lower vehicle. Attach lifting device to engine. Lift engine to clear No. 1 crossmember. Pull engine forward, rotate 45 degrees to left and carefully lift engine from vehicle.
