Fitting Pistons

  1. Measure piston diameter 1.69" (42.8 mm) below lower land of oil ring. Measure at piston pin center line, at 90-degree angle to piston pin. Measure cylinder bore for out-of-round, taper and piston-to-cylinder bore clearance.
  2. If measurements are not within specification, hone or bore cylinders. See CYLINDER BLOCK and PISTONS PINS & RINGS  tables under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS. If cylinder block needs to be bored, pistons are available in.010" (.25 mm).020" (.51 mm) and.030" (.76 mm) oversize.
