Timing Chain: Installation

  1. Lightly oil threads of bolts and studs. Ensure crankshaft key is at 12 o'clock position. Install tensioner/snubber assembly with ratcheting mechanism in retracted position and pin in bracket hole facing outward.
  2. Install crankshaft gear, camshaft gear and timing chain as an assembly. Ensure timing marks and keyways align. See Figure . With all timing marks aligned, remove pin from tensioner/snubber assembly to apply tension to timing chain.
  3. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure.
