Symptom Checks

Perform the following:
- For low idle symptom, disconnect IAC solenoid and check for RPM drop. If RPM does not drop, go to step 2) of CIRCUIT TEST KE.
- Perform QUICK TEST. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES - EEC -IV article. If code is present, perform appropriate CIRCUIT TEST.
- TESTS W/CODES - EEC-IV (5.0L)
- TESTS W/CODES - EEC-IV (5.8L)
- Check idle speed. See IDLE SPEED & MIXTURE in appropriate ADJUSTMENTS article below.
- ADJUSTMENTS - 5.0L
- ADJUSTMENTS - 5.8L
- On A/T models with overdrive, check transmission solenoids. See CIRCUIT TEST TC in appropriate TESTS W/CODES - EEC-IV article below.
- Check Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system. See EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS in appropriate I - SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article below.
- If low idle exists with A/C on, go to step 30) of CIRCUIT TEST KM in appropriate TESTS W/CODES - EEC-IV article below.
