Symptom Checks

Perform the following:
- Perform QUICK TEST. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES - EEC -IV article. If code is present, perform appropriate CIRCUIT TEST.
- Check power to MAP/BARO sensor. See step 3) of CIRCUIT TEST S in appropriate TESTS W/CODES - EEC-IV article below.
- TESTS W/CODES - EEC-IV (4.9L)
- TESTS W/CODES - EEC-IV (5.0L)
- TESTS W/CODES - EEC-IV (5.8L)
- TESTS W/CODES - EEC-IV (7.5L)
- Check ignition system. See IGNITION SYSTEMS in appropriate I - SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article below.
- Check fuel delivery system. See FUEL SYSTEM in appropriate I - SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article below.
- SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - EEC-IV (4.9L)
- SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - EEC-IV (5.0L)
- SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - EEC-IV (5.8L)
- SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - 7.3L DIESEL
- SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - EEC-IV (7.5L)
- Check for restricted exhaust system.
- Ensure engine operates at normal operating temperature.
- Check air intake system. Ensure throttle plate and linkages operate properly.
- Check engine mechanical condition. Check compression, camshaft, valve train components, etc.
- Ensure transmission is functioning properly.
- Check for binding/dragging brakes.
- Ensure A/C turns off during Wide Open Throttle (WOT).
- Check customer driving habits.
