Diagnostic Aids
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Mercury Villager. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Perform this test when directed by another CIRCUIT TEST. This CIRCUIT TEST is intended to diagnose:
- Wiring harness circuit (KAPWR and GND).

1) Check Voltage Turn ignition off. Install Breakout Box (007-00033), leaving PCM disconnected. Measure voltage between breakout box test pin No. 1 and ground. If voltage is 11-14 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 11-14 volts, check INJ fuse (located in left engine compartment fuse panel). If fuse is okay, repair KAPWR circuit.
2) Check Ground Circuits Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between suspect ground circuit test pin at breakout box and ground. Resistance should be 5 ohms or less. If resistance is okay, replace PCM. If resistance is not okay, repair ground circuit.
