Trips & Diagnostic Trouble Codes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Ford Windstar and 1995 Ford Ranger. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: A trip does not have to be completed to set DTC in memory.

DTCs are stored in memory after any monitored system detects a malfunction over 2 consecutive drive cycles, except for misfire monitor DTCs, which can be set immediately after malfunction is detected. DTC is erased from memory after 40 engine warm-up cycles when identical malfunction is not detected. DTC memory storage requirements vary with each system monitor.
