Axle Shaft, Bearing & Oil Seal: Installation
- Ensure bearing bore is clean and undamaged. Place NEW caged needle bearing on Needle Bearing Installer (T83T-1244-A). Ensure bearing manufacturer's name and part number are facing toward tool when installed in housing bore.
- Drive needle bearing in until bearing is fully seated in housing bore. Coat lip of seal with multipurpose grease. Drive seal into carrier using Seal Installer (T90T-3110-A). Install axle shaft so groove on shaft is visible inside differential case.
- Install "C" clip into groove on axle shaft. DO NOT tap on center of "C" clip, as clip will be damaged. Clean all sealant, oil and dirt from housing-to-cover mating surfaces. Apply continuous bead of RTV sealant, 1/4 - 3/8" wide, on housing.NOTE: Install housing cover within 5 minutes after applying RTV sealant.
- Sealant bead should not pass over or outside holes. Install housing cover. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Wait one hour before filling differential.
