Axle Housing Assembly: Removal
- Raise vehicle, and install safety stands under front lifting points. Mark position of drive shaft and axle flanges for installation reference. Disconnect front drive shaft from front axle companion flange.
- Remove inboard half-shaft flange-to-axle shaft bolts (both sides). Wire half-shafts aside, maintaining level position. Remove vent hose from axle housing and cap vent fitting to prevent fluid leakage.
- Remove snubber from rear support crossmember, located below drive pinion. Support axle housing assembly with floor jack. Remove axle mounting bracket-to-crossmember lock nuts (4 places). Lower floor jack and remove axle housing assembly. Remove axle mounting bracket from axle housing, if necessary.
