Pinion Flange & Oil Seal: Removal
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove rear wheels and brake drums. Place reference mark on drive shaft flanges for reassembly reference. Remove drive shaft.
- Install plug in transmission extension housing to prevent oil leakage. Using INCH-lb. torque wrench, measure pinion bearing preload by rotating pinion through several revolutions.
- Place reference mark on pinion flange and pinion for reassembly reference. Hold pinion flange and remove pinion nut. Using Puller (T77F-4220-B1 ), remove pinion flange. Using screwdriver, pry metal area of oil seal upward. Grip metal area of oil seal and pull from differential housing.
