Test B - Red BRAKE Light Off, Does Not Self-Check
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Apply parking brake. If Red light does not illuminate, check for open circuit in light bulb, light circuit or fuse. Repair as necessary. After repairs, repeat RED LIGHT CHECK under SYSTEM PRELIMINARY CHECK .
- Disconnect fluid level switch connector on master cylinder. Inspect connector for corrosion or damaged pins. Repair connector as necessary and repeat RED LIGHT CHECK under SYSTEM PRELIMINARY CHECK . If connector is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect fluid level switch. Turn ignition switch to START position. If Red light illuminates, system is okay. Repeat RED LIGHT CHECK under SYSTEM PRELIMINARY CHECK . If Red light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Disconnect fluid level switch. Connect jumper wire between ground and Dark Green/Yellow wire of fluid level switch harness connector. If Red BRAKE light does not illuminate, repair open circuit in Purple/White or Dark Green/Yellow wire. Also, check for open diode/resistor. Repair as necessary. Repeat RED LIGHT CHECK under SYSTEM PRELIMINARY CHECK . If Red light illuminates, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between Dark Green/Yellow wire and Tan/Light Green wire of fluid level switch harness connector. Turn ignition switch to START position. If Red BRAKE light illuminates, replace fluid level switch. Repeat RED BRAKE light check under SYSTEM PRELIMINARY CHECK . If light does not illuminate, check for open circuit in Tan/Light Green wire or defective ignition switch. Repair as necessary. After repairs, repeat RED LIGHT CHECK under SYSTEM PRELIMINARY CHECK .
