Shock Absorber: Removal

  1. Raise the vehicle on a frame hoist. Place safety stands under the rear axle to take the load off the shock absorber.
  2. Remove the shock absorber lower attaching nut and bolt. Swing the lower end free of the mounting bracket on the axle housing. See Fig 1 .
  3. Remove the attaching bolt and washer from the upper mounting bracket. Remove the shock absorber.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
