Pinpoint Test Z - Brake Warning Never/Always On
- Ensure brake fluid reservoir is full. Turn ignition on. If warning is not on, go to next step. If warning is on, go to step 5).
- Turn ignition off. Unplug connector from brake fluid level sensor. Connect jumper between Purple/White wire at sensor harness connector and ground. Turn ignition on. If warning appears, go to next step. If warning does not appear, go to step 4).
- Test Black wire for continuity to ground. Test Pink/White wire for continuity to ignition switch. Test Light Blue/Black wire for continuity to parking brake switch. Repair wiring as necessary. If all wires are okay, replace brake fluid level switch.
- Turn ignition off. Remove jumper wire. Disconnect instrument cluster wiring harness connector. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for continuity in Purple/White wire between instrument cluster and brake fluid level switch. Repair if necessary. If continuity is present, verify bulb operation and voltage at connector C3, pin No. 5 (Purple/White wire). See Figure .
- Set shift lever to Park. Release parking brake. Turn ignition off. Unplug connector at brake fluid switch. Turn ignition on. If warning is not on, go to next step. If warning is on, repair short on Purple/White wire between instrument cluster harness connector and brake fluid level sensor.
- Ensure parking brake switch is off. Turn ignition off. Ensure brake fluid reservoir is full. Ensure Daytime Running Lights (DRL) module is in good condition. Inspect for open in ground circuit (Black wire) from fluid level sensor. Repair wire as necessary. If wire is okay, replace brake fluid level switch.
