Printed Circuit Test
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connectors C1 and C2. Remove fuse No. 15 from fuse junction panel. Check continuity between load side of fuse No. 15 and ground. If there is no continuity, go to next step. If there is continuity, repair short to ground in Red/Yellow wire from instrument cluster connector C2, terminal No. 10. See Figure -5.
- Measure resistance of Red/Yellow wire circuit between load side of fuse No. 15 and connector C1, terminal No. 10, and connector C2, terminals No. 8 and 13. See Figure -5. If resistance is less than one ohm for all circuits, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If resistance is more than one ohm for all circuits, repair open in circuit(s) as required.
- Check output of fuse No. 15 using a test light. If light comes on, go to step 5). If test light does not come on, go to next step.
- Check supply side of fuse No. 15 using a test light. If light comes on, go to step 6). If light does not come on, go to next step.
- Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect Instrument cluster connectors C1 and C2. Check continuity between fuse No. 15 output side and connector C1, terminals No. 8 and 13 and connector C2, terminal No. 10. See Figure -5. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in Red/Yellow wire.
- Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and output side of fuse No. 15. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace damaged fuse. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Red/Yellow wire, replace fuse and retest.
