Rear Brake Shoes: Removal
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove grease cap. Remove and discard spindle nut. Remove brake drum. Remove brake shoe return springs and anti-rattle springs. See Fig 1
.NOTE: Unless broken or worn, leave parking brake strut adjuster mechanism and adjuster spring in place.
- Using a screwdriver, push in and twist hold-down spring to disengage it from hold-down pin. Remove both brake shoe hold-down springs. Remove rear brake shoes from backing plate. Remove wheel cylinder (if necessary).
