Rear Brake Caliper: Disassembly

  1. Remove caliper. See REAR BRAKE CALIPER & PADS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove plug from caliper. Using an Allen wrench, loosen adjustment gear by turning clockwise. Remove adjustment gear. See Figure .
  2. To remove caliper piston, place a piece of wood between piston and caliper and apply air pressure to brake hose bore. Remove dust seal and snap ring. Remove adjusting bolt, "O" ring and connecting link.
  3. Being careful not to scratch caliper bore, remove piston seal. Remove spring from operating lever. Remove operating lever. Remove bleed screw.
