Pinpoint Test C - Fuel Gauge Inaccurate

  1. Perform FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT TEST under TESTING. If sending unit is okay, go to next step. Replace sending unit if it fails test.
  2. Perform FUEL GAUGE TEST under TESTING. If fuel gauge is okay, go to next step. Replace fuel gauge if it fails test.
  3. Turn ignition off. Unplug connector from fuel pump/sending unit. Measure resistance between Yellow wire at harness connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, repair Yellow or Black/Red wire to ground.
  4. Turn ignition off. Unplug 14-pin connector from instrument cluster. Measure resistance between Yellow wire at harness connector pin No. 8 and Red wire at fuel pump harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, repair Yellow or Red wire between instrument cluster and fuel gauge sending unit.
