Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Test

  1. Remove fuel gauge sending unit from tank. Measure resistance between ground terminal or housing of sending unit and terminal which connects to Yellow/White wire. With float at empty position, resistance should be about 14-18 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
  2. Observe meter while moving float to full position; resistance should change smoothly. Resistance with float at full position should be about 155-165 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
