Pinpoint Test X - Charge System Warning Always On
- Start engine. Observe warning for several minutes. Test charging system. If charging system is okay, go to next step. Repair as necessary.
- Unplug connector C154 from generator. Connector C154 has a Light Green/Red wire. Connect jumper wire between Light Green/Red wire at harness connector and ground. If charge warning remains on, go to next step. If charge warning light goes away, repair generator.
- Turn ignition off, then on. Remove jumper wire at connector. Measure voltage between generator terminal for Light Green/Red wire and ground. If voltage is not higher than 4 volts, go to next step. If voltage is higher than 4 volts, go to step 5).
- Turn ignition off. Remove EIC. See, under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION, ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (EIC) . Inspect for loose or corroded screws on charge indicator resistor located on back of EIC. Replace resistor if resistance is not 400-500 ohms. Test for continuity between resistor screws and Light Green/Red wire at connector C3 pin No. 10. Inspect for short to ground on Light Green/Red wire between EIC connector C3 pin No. 10 and connector C154 at generator. Repair wiring as necessary.
- Turn ignition off. Remove EIC. See, under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION, ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (EIC) . Inspect Light Green/Red wire for continuity between EIC connector C3 pin No. 10 and connector C154 at generator. Repair as necessary. If continuity exists, temporarily substitute known good EIC, then retest system. If continuity does not exist, repair Light Green/Red wire.
