Pinpoint Test A - Display Not Lit, Backlit But Blank Display Too Dim
- Turn ignition on. Wait until prove-out is completed. Turn headlights off. If radio and clock are illuminated but EIC is not, go to next step. If display is not blank, go to step 3).
- Turn ignition on. Test for battery voltage at EIC connector C1 pin No. 7 Light Green/Yellow wire. Repeat test at EIC connector C1 pin No. 9 Dark Blue/Light Green wire. Repeat test at EIC connector C3 pin No. 2 Dark Blue/Light Green wire. If battery voltage exists, temporarily substitute known good EIC, then retest system. If battery voltage does not exist, repair appropriate wire, then retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Turn parking lights on. Observe other displays while operating dimmer control. If other displays dim properly, go to step 4). If other displays do not dim properly, go to step 5).
- Turn parking lights off. Unplug EIC connectors. Turn parking lights on. Measure voltage at C1 connector pin No. 13 (Light Blue/Red wire). If voltage varies from about 4-15 volts, temporarily substitute known good EIC, then retest system. If voltage is not as specified, repair Light Blue/Red wire.
- Inspect fuses No. 9 and 11. Replace fuses as necessary. Operate dimmer control while measuring voltage at Light Blue/Red wire at lighting control module. If voltage varies from about 4-15 volts, repair Light Blue/Red wire. If voltage is not as specified, temporarily substitute known good lighting control module, then retest system.
