Rear Brake Caliper: Reassembly

  1. Lubricate needle bearing with Orange grease (supplied with rebuild kit). Align slot in bearing with piston bore in caliper, and install bearing. Install seal and dust boot. Install shaft and operating lever. Ensure match-marks align. Install lock washer and nut.
  2. Install connecting link. Ensure connecting link passes through slot in needle bearing and enters shaft. Install NEW "O" ring on adjusting spindle. Position stopper on adjusting spindle, with pins on stopper aligned with holes in caliper bore.
  3. Install adjusting spindle and stopper. Install snap ring. Ensure operating lever and adjusting spindle move freely. Install return spring. Install piston seal in caliper bore. Position piston over adjusting spindle. Using Allen wrench, rotate manual adjustment gear counter clockwise to fully retract piston into caliper bore.
  4. To complete assembly, reverse disassembly procedure. Bleed and adjust parking brake as necessary. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM  and PARKING BRAKE  under ADJUSTMENTS.
