Pinpoint Test Ac - Display Does Not Respond To Buttons - No Beep Sound When Buttons Pressed, No Driver Alert Sounds
- Turn ignition on. Check for seat belt unfastened and key warning chimes. If seat belt warning chime sounds, go to next step. If seat belt chime does not sound, repair seat belt chime circuit.
- Remove finish panel to expose instrument cluster. Inspect all wiring connections for secure attachment to instrument cluster. If connections are okay, go to next step. Secure wiring and connections if loose.
- Unplug connector from message center switch module. Measure resistance between pin No. 1 (Light Blue/Yellow wire) and pin No. 8 (Black/Light Blue wire) of message center switch module with no button pressed. If resistance is 17,300-17,600 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 17,300-17,600 ohms, replace message center switch module.
- Unplug connector from message center switch module. Measure resistance between pin No. 1 (Light Blue/Yellow wire) and pin No. 8 (Black/Light Blue) of message center switch module while pressing each button in turn. See MESSAGE CENTER SWITCH MODULE RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS table.
- If resistances are within specification, go to next step. If resistances are not within specification, replace message center switch module.MESSAGE CENTER SWITCH MODULE RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS
Button Ohms E/M 5100-5200 RESET 1000-1100 SELECT (Forward) 330-350 SELECT (Reverse) 2250-2350 - Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument cluster. See ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (EIC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Ensure connectors are properly aligned and secured to instrument cluster. Remove message center switch module. See MESSAGE CENTER SWITCH MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Inspect Light Blue/Yellow wire for continuity between pin No. 1 of message center switch module and EIC connector C255 pin No. 30. See Figure . Inspect Black/Light Blue wire for continuity between pin No. 6 of message center switch module and ground.
- If continuity exists, replace instrument cluster. If continuity does not exist, repair appropriate wiring between instrument cluster and switch module.
