Without Tester

  1. Turn ignition off. Unplug connector from temperature sender. See TEMPERATURE SENDER LOCATION  table. Connect one terminal of 10-ohm resistor to sender wire at harness connector. Connect other resistor terminal to ground. Turn ignition on. Observe gauge. Gauge pointer should indicate close To "H".
  2. Substitute 73-ohm resistor for 10-ohm resistor. Gauge pointer should be close to "C" mark. If gauge indications are not as indicated, replace gauge and retest. If indications are as specified, replace temperature sender.
