Test N Unable To Enter Service Bay Diagnostics
- If another SUPER STAR II tester is available, attempt to rerun SERVICE BAY DIAGNOSTICS. If still unable to enter SERVICE BAY DIAGNOSTICS, go to TEST M (CODE 80), BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW to check module power and ground. If problem is detected and repaired during TEST M, repeat SERVICE BAY DIAGNOSTICS under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS. If no problem is detected during TEST M, go to next step.
- Disconnect control module connectors. Check continuity of circuits No. 419 (Dark Green/Light Green wire), 432 (Black/Pink wire) and 844 (Gray/Red wire) between control module connectors and diagnostic connector. See Fig 1 . If continuity exists in all circuits, go to next step. If continuity does not exist in one or more circuits, repair open in circuits as necessary.
- Measure voltage between diagnostic connector circuit No. 419 (Dark Green/Light Green wire) and ground. Measure voltage between diagnostic connector circuit No. 844 (Gray/Red wire) and ground. Both circuits should indicate zero volts. If both circuits indicate zero volts, go to next step. If battery voltage is indicated in circuits No. 419 and/or 844, repair short circuit to battery as necessary. See Figure .
- Measure resistance between diagnostic connector circuit No. 419 (Dark Green/Light Green wire) and ground. Measure resistance between diagnostic connector circuit No. 844 (Gray/Red wire) and ground. Resistance should be greater than 10,000 ohms. See Figure . If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms for both circuits, go to step 5). If resistance is 10,000 ohms or less in either circuit, repair short to ground as necessary.
- Disconnect positive battery cable. Measure resistance between pin No. 1 on Gray module connector and positive battery terminal. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace control module. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open or poor connection in battery power circuits.
NOTE:
Repeat SERVICE BAY DIAGNOSTICS under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS to verify repairs.
