Test L (Code 72) Door Close Signals Not Detected

  1. Turn air suspension switch to OFF position. Disconnect control module connectors. Measure voltage between pins No. 5 and No. 6 of Gray control module connector. Leave voltmeter connected during entire test. Open and close each door. Voltmeter should indicate battery voltage with doors open and zero volts with doors closed. If battery voltage is indicated with doors open and zero volts with doors closed, go to next step. If zero volts are indicated all the time, leave voltmeter connected and go to step 3). If battery voltage is indicated with doors open or closed, leave voltmeter connected and go to step 6).
  2. Repeat SERVICE BAY DIAGNOSTICS under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS. During manual tests, forcefully open and close door. Observe codes. If Code 72 is displayed, replace control module. If Code 72 is not displayed, system is okay.
  3. Open each door not indicating battery voltage one at a time. Manually depress door switch several times while observing voltmeter. Voltmeter should indicate battery voltage with switch released and zero volts with switch depressed. If voltmeter readings are correct, adjust door switch. If no voltage is indicated, leave voltmeter connected and go to next step.
  4. Disconnect door switch connector. Measure voltage at connector between circuit No. 54 (Light Green/Yellow wire) and ground. If battery voltage is present, leave voltmeter connected and go to next step. If zero volts are present, repair open in circuit No. 54 (Light Green/Yellow wire) between door switch and fuse box. If dome light works, 10-amp fuse is okay.
  5. Connect fused jumper wire between circuit No. 54 (Light Green/Yellow wire) and circuit No. 159 (Red/Pink wire, driver's door) or 24 (Dark Blue/Orange wire other doors) and observe voltmeter. If battery voltage is indicated, replace door switch. If zero volts are indicated, repair open in circuit No. 24 (Dark Blue/Orange wire) between door switch and control module. See Figure .
  6. Disconnect door switches one at a time and leave disconnected. Observe voltmeter each time a switch is disconnected. If voltmeter drops to zero volts when switch is disconnected, replace door switch. If voltmeter still indicates battery voltage with all 4 door switches disconnected, repair short to battery in circuit No. 159 (Red/Pink, driver's door) or circuit No. 24 (Dark Blue/Orange wire, other doors).
