Test K (Code 71) Height Sensor Circuit Open
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Turn air suspension switch to ON position. Enter Functional Test mode. See FUNCTIONAL TEST under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS. DO NOT select test code at this time. Tester button should remain in TEST (down) position. Raise vehicle on hoist. Ensure height sensor electrical connector is connected. Check connector and wiring for damage. If connector and wiring are in good condition, go to next step. If connector and/or wiring are worn or damaged, repair as needed. Repeat SERVICE BAY DIAGNOSTICS under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS.
- Disconnect height sensor. Measure voltage between circuits No. 427 (Pink/Black wire) and 428 (Orange/Pink wire) and ground. Voltmeter should indicate 4 volts. If 4 volts are present, go to step 4). If zero volts are present, go to next step. See Fig 1 . Repeat SERVICE BAY DIAGNOSTICS under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS.
- Turn air suspension switch to OFF position. Disconnect control module connectors. Measure resistance between pin No. 17 of Gray module connector and circuit No. 427 (Pink/Black wire). Measure resistance between pin No. 3 of Gray module connector and circuit No. 428 (Orange/Pink wire) of height sensor connector. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace control module. If resistance is not less than 10 ohms, repair open in circuit No. 427 (Pink/Black wire) or No. 428 (Orange/Pink wire). 4) Measure resistance between circuit No. 432 (Black/Pink) of height sensor connector and ground. If resistance is not less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to step 6). 5) Turn air suspension switch to OFF position. Disconnect control module connectors. Measure resistance of circuit No. 432 (Black/Pink wire) between pin No. 8 in Black module connector and height sensor harness connector. See Fig 2 . If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace control module. If resistance is not less than 10 ohms, repair open in circuit No. 432 (Black/Pink wire).
- Measure voltage between circuit No. 431 (Pink/White wire) between height sensor harness connector and ground. Voltmeter should pulse between 4 and 6 volts. If voltmeter pulses between 4 and 6 volts, circuit No. 431 (Pink/White wire) is okay. If voltmeter does not pulse or zero volts are indicated, go to step 7).
- Turn air suspension switch to OFF position. Disconnect control module connectors. Measure resistance of circuit No. 431 (Pink/White wire) pin No. 22 Black module connector and circuit No. 431 (Pink/White wire) in height sensor connector. See Fig 3 . If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace control module. If resistance is 10 ohms or greater, repair open in circuit No.431 (Pink/White wire).
