Temp Gauge Display Blanks Out Thermometer Symbol & Lights Top 2 & Bottom 2 Bars Of Gauge

  1. Unplug wire to temperature sender. Set ignition switch to RUN position. Temperature gauge should indicate cold with bottom bar displayed. If temperature gauge indicates as specified, replace temperature sender.
  2. If temperature gauge does not indicate as specified, disconnect battery ground cable. Unplug wire to temperature sender. Remove cluster. Measure resistance between cluster connector "A" terminals No. 4 (Red/White wire) and 8 (Orange/Yellow wire). See Figure . If resistance is greater than 15,000 ohms, replace cluster. If resistance is less than 15,000 ohms, check circuit No. 39 (Red/White wire) for short.
