Door Ajar Warning Never Comes On Or Is Always On

NOTE: Following steps are to be repeated for each door ajar switch. Start with driver door.
  1. If door ajar warning never comes on, go to step 3). Turn ignition off to reset door ajar warning. Pull connector from door ajar switch. Set ignition switch to RUN position. Check message center for warning. Repeat procedure on front passenger door and then rear doors until no warning is displayed or all door switches are disconnected. If no warning is displayed, replace last switch tested.
  2. If warning still appears, turn ignition off. Remove cluster. Check continuity between terminals No. 17 (Black/Orange wire) and 8 (Orange/Yellow wire). See Figure . If continuity does not exist, replace cluster. If continuity exists, check circuit No. 627 (Black/Orange wire) for a short circuit.
  3. Turn ignition off. Pull connector from associated door switch. Connect jumper wire from circuit No. 627 (Black/Orange wire) at harness connector to ground. Set ignition switch to RUN position. Check message center for warning. If warning is displayed, replace door switch. If warning is not displayed, go to next step.
  4. Leave jumper wire connected as in step 3). Turn ignition off. Remove cluster. Check continuity between terminals No. 17 (Black/Orange wire) and 8 (Orange/Yellow wire). If continuity exists, replace message center module. If continuity does not exist, repair open in circuit in No. 627 (Black/Orange wire).
