Display Does Not Respond To Buttons

Cluster only responds to buttons when ignition is in RUN position. Warning chime module will not chime if another sound is being produced. If display does not respond to buttons, go to step 3).
If chime does not sound but display responds to buttons, check for safety belt reminder chime or key left in ignition chime. If chime sounds, go to step 6). If chime does not sound, replace warning chime module.
Remove finish panel to expose cluster. Ensure connectors at switch assembly are secure. If connectors are not secure, service and retest.
NOTE: Press only one button at a time. Wiggle wire at 6-pin switch connector and at switch module to check for loose connections
If connectors are secure, unplug switch assembly from cluster (6-pin connector located at face of cluster to far right). Measure resistance between terminals No. 2 (Yellow wire) and 4 (Orange wire) of connector. Resistance should be as follows:
- E/M button should be 4900-5400 ohms.
- SELECT button should be 2200-2400 ohms.
- SPEED button should be 320-360 ohms.
- RESET button should be 980-985 ohms.
Resistance should be 17,000-17,800 ohms with no button pressed.
Visually inspect 6-pin switch connector for poor, damaged or missing connections. If cluster pin is damaged or missing, replace cluster. If switch module pins are damaged or missing, replace switch module. If all pins are okay, replace cluster.
Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove cluster. Set ignition switch to RUN position. Wait for seat belt reminder chime to end. Connect jumper wire between cluster connector "A" terminal No. 19 (Tan/Yellow wire) and ground. See Figure . Listen for chime. If chime sounds, replace cluster. If chime does not sound, check wiring in circuit No. 183 (Tan/Yellow wire) for open circuit. Check for correct warning chime module part number and operation.
