Cluster Will Not Dim

  1. Set ignition switch to RUN position. Turn headlights on. Dimmer should control cluster illumination from 65 percent to almost off. If cluster dims properly, system is okay.
  2. If cluster does not dim properly, disconnect battery ground cable. Remove cluster. Reconnect battery ground cable. Set ignition switch to RUN position. Turn headlights on. Measure voltage at connector "A" terminal No. 13 (Light Blue/Red wire). See Figure . Operate dimmer control. If voltage varies between 5 volts and battery voltage, replace cluster. If voltage does not vary as specified, service dimmer control or wiring.
