Exhaust Manifold: Installation

To install, reverse removal procedure. Install gasket with raised area toward exhaust manifold. Tighten retaining nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table at end of article.



  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install gasket with raised area against exhaust manifold. Ensure special nuts are installed to retain turbo on exhaust manifold.
  2. Tighten nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table at end of article.
  3. Pour .85 oz. (26cc) of engine oil in turbo oil supply passage before installing oil supply line. Evacuate and recharge A/C system.
  4. Once all components are installed and cooling system is filled, disconnect coil wire at ignition coil. Crank engine for approximately 20 seconds to bring up oil pressure. Reconnect coil wire.
  5. Start engine and allow to idle for 30 seconds. Stop engine, and disconnect negative battery cable. Press brake pedal for at least 5 seconds to cancel trouble code. Reconnect negative battery cable.
