Removal & Installation: Engine: Installation
- Position engine and transmission in vehicle, and install engine mounts. Connect both drive shafts.CAUTION: When installing drive shafts, hold shafts to prevent damaging seals, boots and joints caused by moving joints through angles greater than 20 degrees. Connect shift control cable (A/T) or rod (M/T). Connect clutch release cylinder. Connect transmission electrical connectors and speedometer cable.
- Connect P/S lines. Connect A/C pressure and suction lines (install a new "O" ring). Connect engine ground strap and A/C clutch electrical connector. Install front section of exhaust (non-turbo vehicles). Install turbocharger oil pipe and hoses (if equipped).
- Install radiator and cooling fan assembly, and connect cooling fan electrical connectors. Connect transmission oil cooler lines (if equipped). Connect vacuum lines to carbon canister, bulkhead-mounted solenoids, distributor and brake booster. Connect heater hoses and fuel lines.
- Connect O2 sensor, 3 sensors at thermostat housing, EFI wiring, distributor wiring at ignition coil and engine wiring harness. Install air filter assembly and ducting. Connect accelerator cable, throttle cable and cruise control cable (if equipped).
- Fill cooling system with suitable coolant. Fill engine and transmission with specified oil to required level. Charge A/C system. Add fluid to P/S, and bleed system. Ensure all fluid levels are normal.
- Install battery, battery carrier and fuse holder. Connect battery cables, and start engine. Check for leaks and proper engine operation. Install hood, ensuring correct alignment using marks made during removal.
