Cylinder Block

  1. Using a straightedge and feeler gauge, check cylinder block deck surface for warpage. Machine cylinder block if warpage exceeds specification. See CYLINDER BLOCK  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS at end of article.
    CAUTION: DO NOT machine more than .008" (.20 mm) from original deck height of cylinder block.
  2. Check cylinder bore diameter, out-of-round and taper. Cylinder bore is measured at top, center and bottom of cylinder bore. Cylinder block must be bored if measurements are not within specification. See CYLINDER BLOCK  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS at end of article.
