Cooling Fan Does Not Operate (2.3L) Or Does Not Operate In Low Speed (3.0L)
- Check for continuity in Black wire to ground from electric cooling fan connector. Check for battery voltage on Yellow wire in connector at integrated Relay Control Module (IRCM). Repair open in Black ground wire if no continuity or battery voltage.
- Check for inoperative IRCM. Ground Tan/Orange wire at IRCM. Check for battery voltage on Dark Blue wire at IRCM. If voltage is not present, check IRCM. If fan operates, check Tan/Orange wire for open. For complete information on Ford's EEC-IV system, see TESTS W/CODES - EEC-IV article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
- If fan motor does not operate, apply battery voltage to Blue wire at fan motor. If fan operates, check Dark Blue wire for open. If fan does not operate, check electric cooling fan motor and repair or replace as necessary.NOTE: Designated diagnostic codes must exist prior to testing IRCM. For complete information on Ford's EEC-IV system, see TESTS W/CODES - EEC-IV article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
