Disassembly (Probe)

  1. Remove brake booster. See POWER BRAKE BOOSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Install front shell of booster in soft jawed vise. See Fig 1 . Remove dust boot from rear shell. Mark front-to-rear shell for reassembly procedure. Install nuts on booster mounting studs.

  2. Using 2 screwdrivers, turn rear shell counterclockwise and remove shell. See Fig 2 . Remove return spring and push rod from front shell. Pry dust seal and retainer from front shell. Slide rear shell off power piston. Remove bearing, seal and retainer from rear shell.
  3. Remove air filter retainer, valve rod/plunger assembly, air silencer and air filters. Push down on valve rod and remove retainer key and stopper. Remove reaction disc from power piston. Remove push rod, dust seal and retainer front shell.
