Installation (Cougar & Thunderbird)

  1. Position steering column in place at mounting bolts and loosely install one mounting nut. Install starter interlock switch. Connect hazard warning electrical connector.
  2. Install upper shroud. Align "U" joint at lower end of steering shaft with upper end of intermediate shaft. Install column mounting nuts. Install pinch bolt and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Connect steering sensor, multifunction switch, ignition switch and cruise control electrical connectors. Connect wire to ignition key courtesy light.
  4. Secure column wiring harness in place. Install lower shroud. Install lower reinforcement panel. Install lower finish panel. Connect battery ground cable.
