Circuit Test M - Code 35, Low Resistance In Passenger-Side Air Bag Circuit
NOTE:
Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS
. After repairs are performed, recheck AIR BAG warning light for other fault codes. Perform system operation check. See TESTING - SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK
.
- VEHICLE CHECK - If vehicle is equipped with passenger-side air bag, go to step 2). If vehicle is not equipped with passenger-side air bag, go to step 3).
- INITIAL TEST PROCEDURE - Deactivate SRS. See COMPLETE SYSTEM DEACTIVATION under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Check AIR BAG warning light for codes. See TESTING - SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . If AIR BAG warning light indicates Code 35, remove passenger-side air bag simulator and go to step 3). If AIR BAG warning light does not indicate Code 35, replace passenger-side air bag module. When repairs are complete, check AIR BAG warning light for codes with Air Bag Simulator(s) (105-00008) still in place of air bag module(s). See TESTING - SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . If system checks okay, reactivate SRS.
- CHECK FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS NO. 614 (GRAY/ORANGE WIRE) & 616 (PINK/BLACK WIRE) - Disconnect diagnostic monitor. See Figure . Remove Red locking wedge from Black diagnostic monitor harness connector. Check resistance between terminals No. 8 (Gray/Orange wire) and 9 (Pink/Black wire) of diagnostic monitor Black connector. See Figure . If resistance is less than one ohm, locate and repair short between circuits No. 614 (Gray/Orange wire) and 616 (Pink/Black wire). Reconnect all disconnected SRS connectors. When repairs are complete, check AIR BAG warning light for codes with Air Bag Simulator(s) (105-00008) still in place of air bag module(s). See TESTING - SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . If system checks okay, reactivate SRS. If resistance is more than one ohm, insert Red locking wedge into Black connector. Replace diagnostic monitor. When repairs are complete, check AIR BAG warning light for codes with Air Bag Simulator(s) (105-00008) still in place of air bag module(s). See TESTING - SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . If system checks okay, reactivate SRS.
