Oil Pan: Installation

- Ensure sealing surfaces are clean. Apply Sealant (ESB-M4G92-A) at oil pump and rear seal retainer-to-cylinder block surfaces before installing oil pan. Ensure new gasket is fully seated in channel on oil pan.
- Ensure spacers are installed on rear of oil pan at oil pan-to-transaxle (lower bolt) holes. Install oil pan on cylinder block. Install oil pan bolts finger tight.NOTE: If oil pan is installed on engine without transaxle, transaxle case must be bolted on cylinder block to ensure oil pan is even with rear surface of cylinder block.
- Tighten the two 10 mm oil pan-to-transaxle bolts to 30-40 ft. lbs. (41-54 N.m), then loosen 1/2 turn. Tighten oil pan-to-cylinder block bolts to 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 N.m) in sequence. See Fig 1.
- Tighten the two 10 mm oil pan-to-transaxle bolts to 30-40 ft. lbs. (41-54 N.m). To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Fill crankcase with oil.
