Rod Bearings

  1. Ensure connecting rod is installed so assembly reference arrow on top of piston or lug on piston must face toward front of engine and oil squirt hole in connecting rod faces intake manifold side of engine. See Figure.
  2. Ensure bearing oil clearance and side play are within specification. See MAIN & CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS  table and CONNECTING ROD SPECIFICATIONS  table in ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS at end of article.
